To understand user pain points around food tracking and label comprehension, I conducted a comparative analysis of existing apps like Yuka and MyFitnessPal. I identified key user frustrations such as complex interfaces, lack of personalization, and overwhelming data presentation. This guided my approach to create a more intuitive, user-focused experience with simplified nutritional insights and customizable preferences.
The design phase focused on creating a clean, approachable interface that supports quick decision-making. I used a light visual theme, rounded components, and soft typography to convey a sense of trust and simplicity. Key features like the product scanner, nutrition breakdown, and insights dashboard were structured with a clear hierarchy to reduce cognitive load and guide users smoothly through their health journey.
While Decode Me was primarily a UX/UI concept project, I designed all components with development feasibility in mind. The layout and components follow a modular structure, making it easy to hand off to front-end developers. I considered responsive design principles, ensured accessibility standards were met, and prepared scalable UI elements for potential integration with barcode scanning APIs and nutrition databases.
Decode Me was born out of the idea that making healthy food choices shouldn't be complicated. The app empowers users to scan everyday products and instantly understand their nutritional value in a personalized, visually clear way. By combining health data, dietary preferences, and real-time insights, the concept aims to bridge the gap between information and action—helping users make smarter, more mindful decisions about what they eat.
